What is SIL?

Your home. Your independence. Our support.

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is an NDIS-funded service that provides you with a comfortable home and the daily support you need to live as independently as possible.

You have your own private bedroom in a shared house, with trained support workers available around the clock. They help with daily tasks like cooking, cleaning, personal care, and medication — while encouraging you to build skills and confidence.

At Venus Care, SIL is about more than accommodation. It's about creating a home where you feel safe, supported, and empowered to live life on your terms.

SIL includes:

  • 24/7 on-site support staff
  • Help with daily living tasks
  • Meal preparation & household tasks
  • Personal care assistance
  • Medication management
  • Community access & social activities

Common Questions

SIL FAQ

What is Supported Independent Living (SIL)?

SIL is NDIS-funded support that helps you live as independently as possible in a shared home. You receive assistance with daily tasks while maintaining your own space, routines, and lifestyle choices.

Who is eligible for SIL?

SIL is available to NDIS participants who have SIL funding in their plan. If you're not sure whether you're eligible, contact us and we'll help you understand your options.

How do support ratios work?

Support ratios determine how many participants share a support worker at any given time. A 1:3 ratio means one worker supports three participants. A 1:1 ratio means dedicated one-on-one support. Your ratio depends on your NDIS plan and individual needs.

Can I choose which home I live in?

We work with you to find the best fit based on your preferences, needs, and availability. We'll discuss both options and help you make the right choice.

What happens if my needs change?

We regularly review your support plan and adjust as needed. If your needs change, we adapt — whether that means adjusting your support ratio or exploring different options.
